About Us
We are the western branch of Land Ark Natural Wood Finishes, producing and selling the wonderful products originally developed by Mike Baugh in North Augusta, South Carolina. Land Ark has been around for about over fifteen years and was originally formulated for the unique needs of timber framing, but have since found a home with all types of woodworkers -- everything from log homes to fine furniture.
We got into making Land Ark through our relationship with Mike Baugh and primarily because WE LOVE WOOD! Autumn comes from a timber framing and furniture background and Aaron, a general carpentry and primitive bow-making background. We are in love with wood of all kinds and want to celebrate it! We think Land Ark is the BEST finish available for ANY wood surface. We put it on everything in our house, shop and farm and would do so even if we didn't make Land Ark products for you!
All Land Ark products are completely non-toxic, biodegradable, and sustainable. We use absolutely NO driers of any kind. That means that our products take longer to dry, but they get more penetration in doing so, and avoid problems with wrinkling due to uneven drying. The leading 'green' producers of various similar products still use heavy-metal drying agents. They advertise these as 'lead-free' or 'non-caustic' (lead is illegal anyway), yet many of these compounds are still highly toxic. Land Ark is committed to keeping our products safe for those who work with them and especially for those who live with them in their home.
